Computer freezes while reading the CD-ROM due to corrupted CD-ROM drive driver.
Cause:
The driver for the CD-ROM drive has been corrupted or damaged.
Solution:
Reinstall the device drivers for the CD-ROM, and restart Windows 95.
1) Open the 'Device Manager'.

2) Select the 'View devices by type' radio button, and double-click on 'CD-ROM' in the 'View devices by type' list box.
3) Select the CD-ROM drive driver, and click 'Remove'. (The 'Confirm Device Removal' dialog box appears.)

4) Restart Windows 95.
5) After the computer has restarted, open the 'Add New Hardware' icon.

6) Select the 'No' radio button and click 'Next'.

7) Double-click on the appropriate device type in the 'Hardware types' list box.
8) Select the device manufacturer from the 'Manufacturers' list box, and then select the device model from 'Models' list box.
9) If you are installing the device with drivers supplied from the manufacturer, click 'Have Disk...', and follow the manufacturer's instructions.

10) If you are installing the device with drivers supplied with Windows 95, click 'Next'.

NOTE: You must have access to the Windows 95 CD-ROM.
11) Select the appropriate resources (i.e. IRQ, DMA, and I/O addresses) for the device driver, and click 'Next'.
CAUTION: Please refer to the device's installation manual before assigning resources for the driver. Incorrectly assigning resources to a driver may cause conflicts with other devices.
12) Click 'Finish'.

13) Click 'Yes' when Windows prompts you to restart the computer.
